Tutorial - Two Tone Pattern

I re-created a mani I did a while back for @kirstygram (instagram) 10 day challenge :)

What I used:

  • Sally Hansen maximum growth base coat
  • Essence 'The Boy Next Door' (Blue polish)
  • Essence gel-look topcoat
  • Cleanup brush
  • Essence 'Off To Miami' (Pink polish)
  • Striping tape
  • Scissors
  • Nail polish remover

Start with clean nails, and apply base coat. Start off with one colour and fill in one half of your nail. Don't worry if it look messy, you can clean up afterwards. Do all 10 nails before starting the second colour. Start with the lighter colour.

Paint the remaining half of the nail with the remaining colour.

Are both of the colours fully dried? This is really important, as the striping tape will pull off wet polish! Ok. So after your polish is FULLY dried, apply the tape. You should do a pattern that would be symmetrical on both sides. Apply the striping tape patterns to all nails.

Now to the confusing part. One nail at a time, paint pink polish onto the blue half, and blue polish onto the pink half. Do this quickly, then pull the striping tape off slowly while the polish is STILL WET. Then continue to the other nails, ONE AT A TIME!

After finishing all nails, let the cleanup begin!

Add topcoat and you're done!
